PROJECT

To re-imagine a 16 year old software that serves high risk business function like Compliace. Cordium based in NYC started as a Compliance consulting company that found a niche in offering a software solution for clients in finance, retail and real estate. Cordium wanted guidance for product solutions, but they also expressed a desire for a long term skill building for their team. So that their team could carry forward the principles and functions we offered through this engagement. A deeply collaborative approach enabled us to strengthen their design/product function and its position in the larger internal corporate environment.

KEY PROCESS 01

SIMPLIFYING THE COMPLEXITY OF COMPLIANCE- COLLABORATIVE EXERCISES EMPLOYING THOROUGH PROCESS FOR USER PERSONA & USER GOALS

We were designing for a highly complex software with many differnt user roles. In order to create a solution set that would work for all these distict personas, we needed to fully understand their mental model. Each user type participates with each other in different ways and at different times. To fully articulate their goals and expectations, an ‘empathy’ based exercise was facilitated with the client. ‘Mission, Mindframe and Method’ offers a more comprehensive way to understand personas. Furthermore, several interviews were conducted with each user type to inform product design.

KEY PROCESS 02

EXPERIENCE STRATEGY PROCESS-
PROJECT JOURNEY, FEATURE MAPPING WITH USER ROLES
OVERLAYED, FEATURE PRIORITISATION

The existing model for information architecture was quite confusing for not only users, but the internal team as well. There was no shared understanding of the functionality and the structural framework of the software. We were designing for clarity and specifity for all users as the risk of mistake is too high in Compliance. In the service of simplicity, the following methods were employed to untangle the work flows and user role participation. Different user roles were plotted on top of the workflows. This unveiled opportunities to consolidate, create and modify collaboration modalities for the entire compliance team.

KEY PROCESS 03

VISUAL DESIGN PROCESS

There was a light-weight visual design exploration phase. This process entailed doing competitive research in the domain, creating 2-3 distinct look and feel visual stories. This visual design would also offer an over-arching Cordium brand to all other products outside of Pilot as well. We were working very closely with the Cordium marketing team to help launch a new Marcomm website with the new visual design style.
